The Town of Marion announced Oct. 16 that its pavement preservation project has a revised start date and will now run from Tuesday, Oct. 20, through Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026.
The town, working with paving contractor Indus, will be crack sealing roads including Benson Brook Road, Parlowtown Road, Holmes Road, Water Street, Ryders Lane, Pleasant Street, South Street, School Street, Ridgewood Lane, Giffords Corner Road, Abels Way, Joanne Drive, Jenna Drive and Evergreen Cemetery Roadway.
A crack seal is described as a minimally disruptive, preventative maintenance treatment meant to prevent accelerated deterioration of a street. It involves applying a mixture of asphalt cement and reinforcing fibers in and over pavement cracks.
Work will not start before 7 a.m. and is expected to finish around 3 p.m. each day. The town said the schedule and completion of all work are subject to change due to weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances.
Residents are asked not to park vehicles or equipment on the roadway during the construction period. Motorists can expect delays while traveling through the construction area and should seek alternate routes.
Questions can be directed to the DPW at (508) 748-3540, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For emergencies outside regular DPW office hours, residents can contact the Police Department at (508) 748-1212, which will relay concerns to the appropriate town department.
