The Town of Marion announced Oct. 29 that the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, through contractor Lawrence Lynch Corp., is expected to begin safety improvements at the intersection of Route 6 and Route 105 on Monday, Nov. 2, 2026.

The work includes installing new wheelchair ramps, milling and overlay, new pavement, and modifying the existing traffic signal to create a left turn from Route 6 onto Route 105. Crews will work between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., though the schedule and completion date are subject to change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

The town said every effort will be made to minimize inconvenience to residents and motorists, but drivers should expect delays while traveling through the construction area and are encouraged to seek alternate routes. Motorists are also urged to slow down and use caution near the work zone.

Questions can be directed to the MassDOT District 5 Construction Office at (508) 884-4281, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or the Marion Department of Public Works at (508) 748-3540, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For emergencies outside regular DPW office hours, residents can contact the Marion Police Department at (508) 748-1212, which will relay concerns to the appropriate town department.
